IP Address Changer for Mac
Move between equipment networks without repeatedly typing the same settings. gHOST Scout IP Presets let you save up to five static IP configurations on macOS and apply them when you need them.
What an IP address changer does
An IP address changer updates the local network settings on your computer. In gHOST Scout, presets store an IP address, subnet mask and gateway. They help your Mac communicate with equipment on different subnets; they do not change the address configured on that equipment.
Before switching subnets
Record your current settings and confirm the equipment’s subnet. Choose an unused address for your Mac in that subnet. For example, equipment at 192.168.10.50 with mask 255.255.255.0 could be reached from 192.168.10.20 with the same mask, provided that address is available and both devices share the network.
Save a configuration, then apply it
Create an IP Preset with the required address, subnet mask and gateway. Apply the saved preset when returning to that network, then scan the relevant IP range to find devices and open their web interfaces. Changing settings can interrupt existing connections.
Return to DHCP
Use Return To DHCP when you finish and reconnect to a network that assigns addresses automatically. DHCP lets the network supply your IP configuration. A static configuration for an equipment network may prevent normal Internet access elsewhere.
Local IP versus public IP
These presets configure your Mac’s local network address. They are not a VPN and do not directly change the public Internet address assigned by your provider. Use them for device setup, commissioning and troubleshooting.
Platform availability
IP Presets are available in gHOST Scout for Intel and Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 Ventura or later, and for 64-bit Windows 10 or higher.
