What to look for in an IP scanner
An IP scanner helps you find active devices within an address range. Useful information includes IP addresses, hostnames, MAC addresses and manufacturer details where available. This helps distinguish equipment before opening its configuration interface.
Prepare for device discovery
Connect to the relevant network and establish the address range used by the equipment. Scanning an unrelated subnet will not automatically make it reachable. VLANs, routing and device response settings can affect what a scanner finds; no response does not always mean a device is offline.
